Today I would like to tell you about another wonderful artist at Handmade Artists' Shop. Her name is April and you can find her beautiful work at brooklynbeadgoddess.


April not only makes beautiful jewelry she also makes the beads she uses. She is from Brooklyn and is influenced by the style and flair of New York which gives her jewelry it's uniqueness. The process she uses for making her beads is called lampwork.

Lampwork is used to describe handcrafted glass beads that are made by melting glass rods with a torch. The word "lamp" was used in ancient times when the glass was melted with the flame of an oil lamp. Today the craft is also called "flameworking".
Each glass bead is individually hand crafted by heating a glass rod in the flame of an oxygen and natural gas mixed gas torch. The hot glass is melted and applied to a steel rod.

Beaded Unakite Cabochon Turtle Necklace Pendant in Light Green (NE-61) - $90.00

A Unakite Cabochon was used as the shell for the Turtle in the pendant necklace. This one is done in Light Green and Clear seed beads on white buckskin. With a peyote stitch rope with a ball and loop closure.



The pendant is 2 inches by 2 1/4 inches

HAF artist spotlight - A Bead Thing






I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. Today I would like to introduce to you a very talented bead artisian Pam from A Bead Thing. She says "Handcrafted jewelry is my passion. Pam is a semi-retired realtor in FL. Who has been crafting in one medium or another for most of her life, which she had put it aside because being a realtor and a new grandma took up all of my time. After a heart attack in 2009 she and trying to recover from the depression that often brings she rediscovered her love of beads. I am so glade she did because she has created some very beautiful jewelery.

These colorful earrings were handcrafted using 6mm crackled glass beads and were wire-wrapped onto a handcrafted 20 gauge gold craft wire circular base. Beads are wrapped with a 24 gauge gold craft wire. Bead dangle is attached to earring finding using a handcrafted figure eight link. Length from earwire to bottom measures 1.5 inches














This lovely celtic knot ring has a braided shank and celtic knot on top using 20 gauge gold craft wire. This ring is a special order ring as it will be necessary to create the ring to your size. Be specific when ordering as to the ring size.














This bracelet is handwoven using emerald colored 4mm swarovski crystals, goldtone 11/0 seed beads on heavy duty FireLine thread. It is reinforced several times throughout the bracelet. Length is 8 inch.. Can be ordered for specific size and/or color










These will make a prefect gift for any lovely lady this Christmas.

Today I would like to tell you about a small business forum I have just become involved with. Handmade Forum & Handmade Artists' Shop is a group of very talented artisans. This is the place for 100% handmade. The various shops cover a wide range of beautifully designed items. I am sure will find just what your looking for.

I a new shop owner here and have found the support to be wonderful. I encourage all crafters, designers and small handmade business owners to join and visit the forum.
