The Creative Process

Welcome to the Creative Process

I would like to share with my readers some of the projects I am working on. I will use this page to write my thoughts, ideas and details of projects in progress and for the future. I would be glad to have your input as they go along.

The Inspiration

I had an idea come to me a few months ago while attending a church service at my Sister-In-Laws ( she preaches and teaches here) church. We where the first to arrive and unlock the church. It was a beautiful sunny morning. As we walked into the sanctuary the morning light was streaming in through the stained glass windows. On the floor at the front there was a beautiful Dove. The colors where so bright as the sun shone through the glass and made the picture on the floor. My Brother-in-law said he had never seen it before. We had caught the light at just the right time of day. That image has been with me ever since that day. It touched me in a special way.

So in the back of my mind I have been trying to figure out how I could use that image in a bead design. First I had to decide what form it would be in. You see, I usually bead on leather bags using Native American inspired designs. This just did not seam to be the place for my Dove. Well after a lot of thought, I believe I will put it in a Necklace. I have decided to do the dove in beaded embroidery suspended from a beaded chain of silver and white beads. Now that I have this decided that. I am off to find the perfect Dove picture to bead. I will post it when I have found it and Keep you up to date as this project progresses.

Thank you for joining me in my creative process.

I have decided to try this with some pearls and silver lined crystal beads with a few light blue seed bead perhaps. I have settled on the Dove design now I need to work out the size that will work with the beads I
have chosen. I will post pictures next time to show the beads and Dove design.

Thank you for joining me in my creative process.

Well I have been working on the dove and here are some pictures and a little descriptions of how it came together.
These are a sample of the beads I was looking at to use. I choose 4mm faux pearls, rice beads, lt blue 12/o seed beads and silver lined crystal beads.

I traced the dove picture onto a 4 inch by 4 inch square of fusable medium weight interfacing
Here I have fuses the interfacing to Peltex to give it stiffness however it is very easy to sew through

I used Pearls, rice  and silver lined seed beads to create the necklace portion and toggle
The Necklace can be worn any length as the toggle will fit in any of the pearl loops

The dove filled in with pearls, rice beads and light blue seed beads. Backed with leather and edged with silver lined seed beads.
The necklace is 34 inches long and the Dove is 2 1/2 by 2 1/2. If you are interested in the detailed instructions for this Necklace please leave me a message in the comments or e-mail me at wyndwalkercreations@yahoo.com. I am in the process of  writing them.

This necklace is available for purchase in my Handmade Artist's Shop by clicking this link Dove of Peace in Pearls

I hope you have enjoyed the creative process.
